Cuvée "The Essays" 2002
The year 2002 was marked by contrasting weather conditions: a generally warm and dry spring, a scorching July, a cooler August, then another spell of hot weather in September. These alternating conditions produced very colourful wines with intense, complex fresh fruit flavours.
The best Merlots are distinguished by particularly expressive aromas, combined with a beautiful tannic structure without astringency.
Tasting notes:
The colour is garnet, slightly tiled by ageing.
The nose reveals aromas of spices and cloves.
On the palate, the wood is beautifully integrated, bringing complexity with supple tannins and a lovely finish to this ‘Les Essais’ cuvée from Château Michel de Montaigne.
Harvest:
From 20 September to 10 October.
Blend:
45% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon.
